Casting Call ! ! !
Those auditioning will be required to prepare a short song (not from the show) which best highlights his/her vocal ability. An accompanist will be present, so it is necessary to bring the sheet music; taped accompaniment will not be allowed. Everyone will be taught a short dance routine and those seeking a speaking part will perform a cold reading from the script. Bye Bye Birdie has roles for high school students through senior citizens so everyone is welcome to audition. A word to the wise - prepare your music beforehand and come with sheet music. Nothing will turn a director off quicker than, "Well, I didn't have time to prepare anything." That's not exactly a good way to make an impression. While there are two audition dates, you only need to attend ONE session. But, please, do come on time. So come prepared to sing (bring sheet music), dance (wear appropriate clothes and shoes) and read ("older" auditioners should bring reading glasses). And come prepared to have a good time!
If you would like to prepare your audition form beforehand, you can print one HERE. Fill it out and bring it with you. (Please, do not mail it in to Hard Road Theatre.)
