Thanks so much to everyone who came out to audition for ANNIE JR.! We were blessed with fantastic talent to select from. You made our decisions so very difficult! We hope that anyone who did not get a role this year will keep trying and that we will see you at auditions next year.

Should you choose to not accept a role, please contact the director, Angela Nuxoll, before Tuesday, April 24th. You can contact her via message on Facebook. Should she not hear from you, it will be assumed you have accepted the role(s) in which you were cast.

The ANNIE JR. team is excited to get to know the cast and parents at our MANDATORY meeting on Thursday night, April 26th, at 6:00pm at the Louis Latzer Library. We’ll do introductions and discuss our expectations and what you can expect from us in return.  There is a $45 fee due that night. STUDENTS WILL NOT RECEIVE THEIR T-SHIRT, BAG, AND OTHER ITEMS UNTIL THIS FEE IS PAID.

We know that we say all of this every year, but HONESTLY, this was an extremely difficult process because we had so many talented youth auditioning. Everyone did such a great job (making our jobs that much harder)! We were excited to see everyone strive to do their best!!!  We hope that anyone who did not get a role this year will definitely keep trying and that we will see you back at auditions next year!!!

For those of you who are in the cast, congratulations! This week, your first rehearsal is Tuesday, April 24th from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Elementary School – 1800 Lindenthal Highland, IL 62249. Students can ONLY BRING WATER. Be sure to check this posting for changes and updates. Please request to be added to the “Hard Road Mary Poppins Jr. Cast and Crew” over the next day or two.

If you are not willing to accept your role, please send a private message on Facebook Messenger to the director, GENTRY FIFER NESSEL, no later than this evening, Monday, April 23rd.

During the read-through on Tuesday, April 24th, there will also be a MANDATORY PARENTS’ MEETING. Bring your $45 fee with you that evening.

OKLAHOMA! Auditions

Sponsored by Staunton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Hard Road Theatre is proud to announce auditions for OKLAHOMA! OKLAHOMA! was the first collaboration between Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein and this year marks the 75th Anniversary of the show. Set in 1906 outside of Claremore in the Oklahoma territory where there is a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys, OKLAHOMA! revolves around a love story about a handsome cowboy named Curly and a winsome farm girl named Laurey. The road to true love never is smooth with these two headstrong romantics at the reins. Included amongst the cast of characters are the antagonistic ranch hand Judd who has feelings for Laurey, the traveling peddler Ali Hakim, the flirtatious Ado Annie, and matriarch Aunt Eller. The story is full of twists and turns, fights and fun, dances and death.

Auditions for OKLAHOMA! will be held on Monday, May 14th & Tuesday, May 15th at 6:00 PM at the Highland Elementary School, 1800 Lindenthal Ave, Highland, IL.  Callbacks will begin on May 15th starting at 7:30 PM. Those auditioning should be at least 16-years- old.  Those auditioning should come prepared to sing at least 16 measures of a Broadway-style song that showcases the singer’s voice. An accompanist will be provided and no recordings will be allowed. In addition, those auditioning should come with two copies of their music and be aware of any conflicts they might have from May 29th through August 5th. Those auditioning will also be asked to learn a short dance routine and might be asked to read excerpts from the script. Anyone wishing to audition for OKLAHOMA! should go to hardroad.org and complete the online audition form found there under the “Oklahoma! Auditions” article. Individuals can sign-up on the night of auditions, but those who have already signed-up online will be given preference. OKLAHOMA! is directed by Mike Huelsmann with musical direction from David Wilton and Choreography by Christine Taylor. Performance dates for OKLAHOMA! are July 27th –July 29th and Aug. 3rd – 5th.
