Stage At Home – Oh, I Just Can’t Wait To Be Free

You’ve heard wild animals sing it in the African savannah, but what about a stressed out family, confined to their home, quickly approaching the end of the school year after a few ‘trying’ months of “homeschooling” their 4 kids? Will the end of the school year and the beginning of summer bring relief? We can certainly hope so! This week’s Stage at Home entry – “OH, WE JUST CAN’T WAIT TO BE FREE!” (our take on the classic song, Oh, I Just Can’t Wait To Be King) is our first video starring a whole family – parents and all! Will your family be next? We can only hope so! Watch and enjoy!

Stage At Home – Let it Go/Stay at Home

This week’s Stage at Home entry finds our favorite sisters, Anna and Elsa, stuck at home during the quarantine. Elsa is content in her solitude, but her gregarious sister, Anna, really wants to be with her friends! The tune is familiar, but the lyrics are a bit different this time, as these talented ladies sing “LET IT GO – STAY AT HOME”!  AND be sure to watch until the very end for a surprise visitor!

Stage at Home – When Will My Life Begin

Watch and ENJOY!!!!!

We can’t go a whole summer without performing! It’s just not right! This is the FIRST entry into what we are calling Hard Road’s “Stage at Home Series”! What’s that? Well, I’m glad you asked!

Here’s what we are hoping to do:
– We’d like to release a new video every Friday this summer featuring an acting skit, song, dance or combination of all those things!
– If you are 18 and under and interested in taking part in a video or two through out the summer, please submit the following information to gentry.hardroad@gmail.com
– Kid name and age
– Parent name(if 17 and under)
– Phone number
– Email
– Facebook
– There is no “casting” per se. Our production staff will be selecting individuals from interested applicants. You’ll be selected for at least one and maybe several of the videos that are produced this summer!

Then it’s your job to SHARE SHARE SHARE the videos of our talented Hard Road performers with all your family and friends!

We know it’s not the same as a big summer show, but we’re hoping this will be a fun way for our Hard Road family to entertain our community while still maintaining social distancing guidelines!

Hope you want to join in on the fun and come back to see more soon!

Summer Season Cancelled

Summer Season Cancelled

Dear Hard Road Patrons and Friends,

I hope this letter find you all healthy and well. After much thought, consideration and deliberation over the last few weeks our board has decided to err on the side of caution and voted last night to cancel our 2020 Summer Season. Which means Hard Road will not be staging Moana, Jr. and Into the Woods this summer.

Like you, we are filled with disappointment at this news. Everyone serving on our board LOVES live theater and all that comes with it – paging through the scripts for the first time; the long nights of rehearsals; costume fittings and set building; tech week – all to feel the excitement of opening night – stepping out on stage and feeling the bright, hot lights on our faces – transporting our audiences to another time and place – to magical landscapes – sharing stories of heroism, love and wonder with you. The thought of a dark, silent stage and empty seats all summer long seems unreal and it breaks our hearts. The production teams for these two shows have been working diligently and so incredibly hard to have everything ready if/when we felt it safe to start the casting and rehearsal process. Ultimately, the health, safety and welfare of our production staff, cast and audiences have to be our top priority and we didn’t feel confident or comfortable that we’d be able to provide the quality productions you’ve come to expect from Hard Road Theatre in a manner that kept everyone safe in these trying times.

This is definitely not how we planned to kick off the celebrations for our 20th season! We are still eager to tell you stories and in that vein, we are working on some alternative ways to bring you HR entertainment this summer! We’re also exploring the feasibility of staging some additional productions later this season! Stay tuned to our Facebook page and website as we continue to build out those ideas and can share details with you! Currently, the next scheduled stage production on our calendar is “The Winter Wonderettes” later this fall. We are optimistic that this show will go on as scheduled and can’t wait tell you more about that in the near future! In the meantime, stay safe and dream big! We’ll see you soon!

With Hope,
Brian Knobloch
President, Hard Road Theatre Board of Directors
