Hard Road has two major upcoming events that are just around the corner. The first is our annual trivia night on Saturday, March 7th.
Hard Road Theatre’s Annual Trivia Night will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the John Wildi Masonic Temple (Masonic Lodge) located at 721 9th St. in Highland, IL. The cost is $100 per table (maximum of 8 people per table). The theme for the event is “Broadway’s Best.” There are free snacks, a silent auction with some very cool items, a table decorating contest, and more. This is Hard Road’s major fundraising event for the year and all of the money raised this year will be used towards the cost (over $11,000 worth) of new lighting equipment that Hard Road purchased for the Highland Elementary Auditorium. You can reserve a table by calling (618) 409-6286 or emailing tom@hardroad.org. More information about this event will be forthcoming.
The second major event is the performance of South Pacific-In Concert on Thursday, March 19th.
Sponsored by TheBANK of Edwardsville, this performance event is a joint endeavor between Hard Road and the Highland Community Chorus. In addition to the performance of the show itself, the evening will feature catered hors d’oeuvres and a special recognition of our veterans and the branches of the armed services. The festivities begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 each. There are a limited number of tickets and we are expecting to sell out soon, so it is highly recommended that you purchase your tickets online far in advance of the performance itself. If you have any questions about this event, please call (618) 409-6286 or email evan@hardroad.org.
We look forward to seeing you at these events!

It’s the last call for DRINKING HABITS: the hilarious, delightful, charming, and family-appropriate comedy smash with a cast of characters that includes a couple of bootlegging nuns, two nosy reporters, a simple groundskeeper, a frenzied Mother Superior, a sweet Sister with a secret, and a priest who used to do magic tricks. If you didn’t get to see the show last weekend, there are only two chances left: tonight (Friday, January 30th) and tomorrow night (Saturday, January 31st). And if you’ve seen the show already, please, come back again. Several others already have and you’re always welcome at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing. They won’t turn you away.

Sponsored by Woodforest National Bank, Hard Road Theatre Productions in association with the Highland Arts Council invites you to join them for an evening of hilarious hijinks with the nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing in the family-friendly comedy Drinking Habits.
Set in the present day outside the small town of Shady Glenn, USA, Drinking Habits revolves around a couple of nuns who, unknown to their Mother Superior, have been secretly making wine and selling it to the village locals in order to keep their convent open. Problems begin when the threat of a possible early frost could ruin their harvest. Meanwhile, Mother Superior is in a tizzy when she believes a spy from Rome is coming to shut her convent down. Throw in a couple of nosy reporters, a new member to the convent, a local “magical” priest, and a simple groundskeeper and you end up with several mistaken identities, some tender romances, and tons of laughs.
Directed by Tom Varner, the cast includes Breanna Noe as Sister Augusta, Linda Collman as Sister Philamena, David Harnetiaux as George, Mary Knebel as Mother Superior, Evan Fifer as Paul Billings, Gentry Nessel as Sally Andrews, Mary McCoy as Sister Mary Catherine, and Rob Bowman as Father Chenille. “I’m so proud of this cast. It’s been such a joy working with them.” Varner said. “Audiences are going to love this show and I can’t wait to see how they react; how can you go wrong when the premise of the show revolves around a couple of bootlegging nuns trying to save their convent.”
Drinking Habits is acceptable for families as it contains no foul language or adult situations. Performance dates are Jan. 23, 24, 30, & 31 at 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 25 at 2:00 p.m. Performances will be held in the Highland High School Kennel, 12760 Troxler Ave., Highland, IL 62249. Ticket prices purchased online at www.hardroad.org are $9 and tickets at the door are $10. $1 of every ticket sold will be donated to the Highland Food Pantry. Seating is limited so it is recommended that you purchase tickets online before the show.
